DEVELOPMENTAL EDITING

The developmental editing phase takes a broad look at the structure of your manuscript to assess big-picture story elements such as plot and character development, pacing, organization, narrative POV and perspective, world-building, themes, and dialogue.

Marginal comments, suggestions, questions, and concerns
An in-depth 10-30 page editorial letter offering insight on strengths, weaknesses, and revision suggestions.
COPY EDITING
$0.022 per word
The copyediting phase focuses on more technical aspects of writing, such as syntax, grammar, spelling, punctuation, continuity, and language consistency.
What’s included:
Tracked in-document suggestions and corrections as well as explanations for recommended changes
LINE EDITING
$0.026 per word
The line editing phase focuses on paragraph and sentence level structure. While this might include correcting errors, the primary goal of this phase is to improve language and the overall flow of the narrative.
What’s included:
Marginal comments, questions, and concerns
Tracked in-document suggestions and corrections, as well as explanations for recommended changes
A detailed 5-10 page letter offering an overview on recurring errors and/or issues that appear consistently throughout the narrative, as well as feedback on writing style.

This is an estimated Editor-to-Author timeline for each step. It will outline how long each edit usually takes for each person to go through.
